Time goes by so quickly. Before we know it, summer will be over.
I remember as a child feeling as though time dragged. That time for the school day to finally be over, or the wait until my next birthday seemed torturous.
Now as an adult, I am constantly finding myself saying things like "I can’t believe it's already summer," or asking "Where did the day go today?"
Sometimes I think it should be the opposite: that time should fly by quickly when we are children, and take its time when we are adults - when we appreciate it most. But as my husband likes to say about thinks for which we have no control, "It is what it is."
So as we move through August, take time to enjoy these last days of the summer of 2010, because once they’re gone, you cannot get them back. Sure next summer will be here before you know it, but all that means is that another year will have flown by.
That’s why this month’s issue of the Parklander is featuring spas, as a way to remind our readers to take a deep breath and relax, and take some time for yourself. At both work and at home, we all tend to rush through the day, thinking about all the tasks we have to complete. A day at a spa may be just what the doctor ordered. It’s a way to let someone else pamper you for a change.
Another great way to make the best of your time is by making a difference. This month the Parklander is also featuring stories about volunteers in our community. Both Coral Springs and Parkland are filled with opportunities to give back. If you have the time, take advantage of that time by making a difference in someone else’s life. The rewards are priceless.
For those that are spending their days looking forward to their upcoming weddings, the Parklander hasn’t forgotten about you this month. In this issue, you can meet some of the area’s newest engaged couples, and read about their stories from their first date to the day they decided to spend the rest of the lives together. The Parklander is also featuring an article about the latest trends in weddings, from having an environmentally friendly wedding to the newest ideas in catering and attire for 2010 weddings.
We also haven’t forgotten that many of our readers are planning for the upcoming Jewish High Holy Days. To those readers we wish you a Shana Tova, which in Hebrew means "A Good Year." Be sure to read the Parklander’s feature this month about local synagogues that are getting ready for the large congregation the holidays always attract.
As always, I want to remind our readers to share with me all the news going on in your club, group or organization. This is a community magazine, and as members of our community, this magazine belongs to you. Please feel free to write me with what you’d like to see in future editions of the Parklander, at editor@theparklander.com. |
